Who is entitled to NHS Sight Tests
You are entitled to a free NHS sight test if you are:
- Aged 60 or over
- Registered Blind or Partially Sighted
- Diagnosed as having Diabetes or Glaucoma
- 40 or over with an immediate relative with glaucoma, or you have been advised by an ophthalmologist that you are at risk of glaucoma
You are entitled to a free NHS sight test and help with glasses if you are:
- Aged under 16, or under 19 and in full-time education
- Prescribed a complex lens
You are entitled to a free NHS sight test and help with glasses if you (or your partner) are receiving the following benefits or credits:
- Income support
- Income related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- Pension Credit Guarantee Credit
- Income Based Job Seekers Allowance (not contribution based)
- You are named on a Tax Credit NHS Exemption Certificate
- You are named on an NHS certificate for full help with health costs (HC2)
- People named on an NHS certificate for partial help with heath costs (HC3) might also get help. You will be asked to show proof of your entitlement to free NHS sight tests
- Universal Credit
