Your Local SEIKO Lens Specialist
SEIKO is recognised for innovative, technically advanced and stylish watches - so why are they also making spectacle lenses? The answer is that SEIKO were awarded the contract for the timing at the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games. They developed technology that established when light beams were broken - and this included very high quality optical lenses. The rest is history. SEIKO lenses are equally innovative - and they look great too!
The latest lens technology allows many high powered lenses to be made thinner and lighter than ever before. This can make spectacles look better and feel a lot more comfortable. Coatings can be added to aid scratch resistance and lengthen the life of lenses. They can be anti-reflection coated to reduce glare and remove annoying surface reflections – this can make lenses look almost invisible and is especially helpful for night driving and computer use.
Progressive / Varifocal lens wearers will know that vision near the edges of the lenses can be a bit blurred meaning that you do not see the complete picture. SEIKO has the answer with P-1SY progressives which give a wider field of view than traditional lenses.
Most SEIKO lenses can be ordered with a choice of over 200 fashion tints. If you prefer lenses that are normally nearly clear but go dark when exposed to UV light, you can order SEIKO Transitions V lenses in either brown or grey. The change from nearly clear to dark occurs in a matter of seconds ensuring healthy, and comfortable vision.

Contact Lenses
Contact lenses have become an important visual correction. Monthly soft lenses (including quality solutions) delivered through your letterbox and daily disposable lenses that do not require any solutions are particularly popular. More specialised lenses such as gas permeable and toric lenses are also fitted.
Daily Disposable Contact Lenses
Daily disposable contact lenses represent the ultimate in convenience - wear them for a day, and then throw them away. These lenses are ideal for busy people who don't have time to clean and care for their lenses. Doctors say these are the healthiest lenses you can wear, and they are ideal for people who have allergies.
Silicone Hydrogel Contact Lenses
Silicone Hydrogel lenses are the latest development in soft contact lens materials. They are healthier than conventional soft lenses because they allow up to 6 times more oxygen to pass through them and increased oxygen transmission results in better overall eye health. Advantages of silicone hydrogel lenses over conventional soft lenses include: more resistance to protein deposits, less drying of the lenses, lower risk of eye infection and easier handling due to increased rigidity of material. . Most optometrists believe that within the next 5 years, more patients will be wearing silicone hydrogel lenses than any other lens material.
Gas Permeable Contact Lenses
Gas permeable contact lenses have become unfashionable over the last few years - they are a little more difficult to fit and require more fitting time than soft lenses. Many optometrists shy away from them for this reason. They will often give better vision than soft lenses especially in the presence of astigmatism and they last longer.
All our Optometrists have experience in most types of contact lenses and will be pleased to offer advice on contact lens type and suitability.
